Consultant/Contractor FAQs

At Hudson, we have a wide selection of contract and consulting positions available at any time. When you accept a consulting assignment with Hudson, you will receive a manual covering Hudson’s policies and procedures.

How do I submit a timesheet?  

Our online web timesheet tool allows you to submit – and managers to approve – time and expenses from your desktop.

What kind of benefits can I receive as a consultant/contract employee with Hudson? 

The benefits available to you as a consultant depend on your employment classification.  Employees with an initial assignment scheduled for less than six months are classified as short-term billable employees.  Long-term billable employees are those who scheduled for at least six months or who have reached six months of service. 

You will receive complete enrollment information upon confirmation of an assignment.  Hudson offers a selection of benefits from the following list to short-term consultants:

  • Starbridge Sickness and Accident Plan: 3 Level Options
  • Starbridge Dental/Vision Combination Plan
  • Starbridge Income Replacement Plan

In addition, long-term consultants also receive the following selection of benefits:

  • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) Plan with Employer Match
  • Flexible Spending Plans
  • Basic Life at no cost to the employee and the opportunity to purchase additional life insurance in $10,000 increments.

You will receive complete enrollment information upon confirmation of an assignment. 

Do you have direct deposit? 

Yes, you will receive a form with your new hire paperwork.

Am I eligible for paid time off?

Generally you will not be eligible for paid annual leave, sick pay or other leave.  In some cases, a client-provided or contractually agreed upon benefit between Hudson and a customer may be available.  You will be eligible to receive client approved paid time-off in accordance with client specifications.

If I get called in for Jury Duty, am I eligible for payment while serving? 

Hudson complies with all applicable laws that afford job protection rights to employees summoned to serve on juries or subpoenaed to serve as witnesses.  Jury duty pay is awarded based on state law and exemption status.

Whom should I contact if I have safety or other concerns about my client workplace?

It is a top priority of Hudson to ensure a safe work environment for its employees.  Employees should immediately report any potential safety hazards or job-related injuries to their client supervisor and Hudson representative, regardless of severity.  If you have any other problems with your assignment or new workplace, you should advise your recruiting specialist or your supervisor immediately.

Whom do I contact if my personal contact information changes?

Please contact your Hudson recruiter should any of your personal information change.   If you move, you should also let us know and we can help connect you with another Hudson office immediately.   It’s advisable that you contact us before you move as we may be able to arrange an assignment very quickly after your arrival.

What if I cannot work?

If you are currently on an assignment and cannot work, you must contact your recruiter immediately so that we can find a replacement. We will help you to find work once you are available again.
